The Spectacular, which is the only fundraising event of the year for the Good Shep herd Food Pantry, is slated for Oct. 30. This year’s event will be held in-person. Due to Co- vid-19 the Spectacular, for mally Spqoktacular, was a virtual race last year. “After last year’s virtual race, the committee is plan ning to hold this year’s 12th annual Spectacular as an in-person event in the hopes that we can share this event with more people in our community,” said race director Joe Huff. “A big shout out to all of the runners and walkers who have supported this important fundraiser for the Good Shepherd Food Pantry in the past and will into the future”, he added. Wells received the Au brey Lee Brooks Schol arship for the upcom ing 2021-2022 academic school year. Wells is a graduate from Bertie Early Col lege and plans to attend North Carolina State University. The scholarships were established in >956 by Aubrey Lee grooks, who was a Per son County native and prominent Greensboro attorney. Vidant Health grants awarded LESLIE BEACHBOARD Managing Editor WINDSOR - Vidant Bertie Hospital recently awarded 18 local programs $100,950 in local grant funds through its Community Benefit Grant Program. “The Vidant Bertie Hospi tal Development Council is proud to partner with Vidant Health Foundation to provide funds to these deserving or ganizations. These organiza tions will reach many in our community through health education, wellness and pre vention programs,” said Vi dant Bertie Hospital Devel opment Manager Jennifer Harriss. The North Carolina Aquariums are asking teachers to take a few minutes to apply for this year’s Aquarium Scholars Grant helping to bring the beach with in reach. Applications are now available for the 2021- 2022 Aquarium Schol ars Grant Program. Aquarium Scholars offers funding for Title I schools to help re move barriers that may hinder educational op portunities with the aquariums.
